What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are advanced, permanent solutions for replacing missing teeth. Comprising three main components, they offer a durable and natural-looking alternative to traditional tooth replacement methods.
At Implant & General Dentistry of Long Island, our expertise extends to crafting custom dental implant restorations tailored to your needs:

  • Single-Tooth Replacement: Whether you’re missing single or multiple teeth, our experienced dentists design precise and natural-looking implant-supported crowns to restore your smile seamlessly.
  • Multiple Teeth Replacement: For cases involving multiple missing teeth, we offer versatile solutions like implant-supported bridges, ensuring stability and aesthetics while restoring dental function.
  • Full Arch Restoration: Our comprehensive approach encompasses arch restoration, utilizing innovative techniques like All-on-4 or All-on-6 procedures to reconstruct an entire arch of teeth with efficiency and precision.
  • Same-Day Implants: Embracing modern dentistry, we also provide same-day implants. This innovative option allows for the placement of implants and immediate restoration, providing a swift and efficient solution.

Do I Need Dental Implants?

Dental implants offer a transformative solution for those seeking a permanent, natural-looking tooth replacement. Consider the following candidacy factors to determine if dental implants are the right choice for you:

  • Overall Health: Good overall health is crucial for successful implant surgery and healing. Certain medical conditions or medications may impact candidacy.
  • Oral Health: Adequate oral hygiene and healthy gums are essential. Any existing dental issues, such as gum disease, may need to be addressed before proceeding with implants.
  • Jawbone Density: Sufficient jawbone density is necessary to support the implant. If your jawbone has deteriorated, additional procedures like bone grafts may be required.
  • Commitment to Oral Care: Maintenance of oral hygiene post-implantation is crucial. Regular dental check-ups and good oral care habits contribute to the long-term success of dental implants.

Do dental implants hurt?
The experience of getting dental implants involves minimal discomfort during the procedure. Dentists prioritize patient comfort and often use local anesthesia to numb the area, ensuring you don’t feel pain during implant surgery.
Can a dental implant be done in one day?
Yes, in certain cases, dental implants can be completed in a single day. Known as immediate load implants, this option allows for the attachment of restoration immediately after the implant surgery. Not everyone qualifies for this procedure; factors like jawbone density and overall oral health play a significant role in determining eligibility.
Which type of dental implant has the highest success rate?
The success rate of dental implants is generally high. However, the type of implant and the patient’s circumstances can influence success. Traditional implants, immediate load implants, All-on-4, and All-on-6 procedures boast high success rates. The key lies in personalized treatment plans tailored to your needs.
Are dental implants worth the money?
Dental implants’ value extends beyond monetary considerations. While the initial cost may seem higher than alternatives, the long-term benefits often outweigh the investment, making dental implants a valuable choice for many individuals.
